Objective

The Fund seeks investment results that correspond (before fees and expenses) generally to the price and yield performance of its underlying index, the Alerian MLP Infrastructure Index (the "Index").

Description

The Alerian MLP Exchange Traded Fund (NYSE: AMLP) delivers exposure to the Alerian MLP Infrastructure Index (NYSE: AMZI), a capped, float-adjusted, capitalization-weighted composite of energy infrastructure Master Limited Partnerships that earn the majority of their cash flow from midstream activities.

Why Energy Infrastructure MLPs?

Thematically, MLPs represent an investment in the build-out of US energy infrastructure over the next few decades. MLPs build, own, and operate energy infrastructure assets such as pipelines, storage facilities, and processing plants.

  • Income potential. MLPs pay out the majority of their operating cash flow as distributions.
  • Volume-driven businesses. MLPs benefit from inelastic energy demand and contract-based cash flows.
  • Energy renaissance drives growth. Record US energy production, along with growing global demand, supports additional energy infrastructure opportunities for MLPs.
